CRIME WATCH SPOTLIGHT
By Jane Genthe

December is statistically one of the two worst months for crime and burglary in our community. Lock up and be aware of anything out of place or unusual around your home.

Fire Marshal Richard Gaston reports that there were

several felony arsons in the Leander Hills area
in the last few months. Witnesses or anyone who has any information about these arsons, even indirectly, should call him at 708-4621 or call the Arson Reward Hotline, 1-800-835-6422.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office reports a possible lottery fraud in Williamson County. A person reportedly "invested" $700 in a "foreign lottery." The person later received a phone call from someone saying he was an attorney who had sued the lottery operators in Canada. The caller said if the person would pay $10,000 in advance for taxes on the award, the person would be sent the awarded funds. When asked for a copy of the settlement papers, the caller refused, sending up a red flag that this might be a recovery scheme. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Resident Reports

  • October 16, 9 a.m.: reports of three huge dogs-two white and one black-attacking tied-up dogs, running deer, chasing cats, and engaging in other mischief in the 25000 - 25300 blocks of Fawn.
  • September - October: two Rotweilers or Rotweiler-mix trespassing and chasing pets in the 25000 block of Fawn.
Residents have threatened to shoot these dogs because of their vicious attacks on other animals and fear that the next attack could be on a child. If they are yours, keep them home!
